Never had a whole lot of education but have graduated from the school of hard knocks.
Never had a bunch of money, but never judged a man by his wealth.
I have an abundance of friends which I place a high value.
Once in a while I can buy something that I don't really need,so rekon I'm rich.
One thing ya can bet on,when my time comes for that great beyond I'll leave here with a satisfied mind.

Very well said Calman.
The people I admire the most are the hard working, down to earth, honest, ethical, moral people that are few and far between these days. Bank acct size, degrees, don't mean sqaut when your dead

Well be nice, I don't have a single cow so I guess that makes me the winner! Just like the old Bobby Bare tune.

Here you go MF135 this 'un's for you.

T.T. I hadn't heard that little tune for a long time, but it's a good one! I smiled -- thank God that's all, cuz any more today could have made a very ugly picture. ;-)

Don't know if there is a "winner" on this TT -- I don't think there needs to be a "winner." Bullshituousness has come on strong from a young'un to those who've met way more in life than he's ever even pondered -- I'm betting he never served in the military, as he was too busy getting his double-degree that puts him up smarter, richer, cows +, more upper than many of us "hillbillies" and "old crows", and whatever else we're deemed to be that have been through the ups and downs and around the world of life a couple times with jobs, economy crap, family issues, personal tragedies, trying to keep your shyt together through it all and doing what you can to make a better life for your kids -- and survival through it all.

But I know that friends don't let friends drive red tractors. I don't have to worry about that with MF Whatever. My several, old and restored have always been green. Think I'll go clean my dentures now. :)

Good on ya Suzie. Hit the nail on the head right there.

The highest value things you possess are those you've suffered for. For a college educated kid... yeah, I went to college, in Scotland, on the government dime. If we hadn't had that socialist government I couldn't have done it, maybe I wouldn't be here today but maybe I would.
It's about not believing in the impossible.

One of my tutors said back then... the passmark here is 40%. Get four out of every ten questions answered right and you've got your degree. But you go out into the real world and the passmark is 100%. That's gonna hit you hard if you're not prepared for it. We're not playing around with paper here, this is when mistakes have consequences.
Well, Massey makes me feel old. How long does it take a 25 year old to realise he's still a kid? Heck, I was an adult at fifteen and so, I'd guess, were most of the older members on the boards.

edit, though I can't quite believe "poozy-futing around with paper" got be-niced out?? The expression refers to cats surely?

Ya, college kids noitall but the 1020 Deere was alot better tractor. It had faster and stronger hydraulics, better steering and brakes, longer wheel base for a better ride, and just more heavy duty all the way around. The 20 series put John Deere on top and they haven't looked back.

Highgrit -- My greens were/are older . . . . . JD 'G' X 2, JD 'R' X 2; 420-U (kept that one), 'A'; and 'AR'. The young one was being pretty cocky to think that his MF was worth more than most of the homes of those on this site. 2 in good condition are here for sale now in our hillbilly world/uneducated/old crow world -- one for $4K, and another for $6K. Somewhere, some time, some one will teach him some manners. As for me, hope he doesn't ask for any help.

And BTW, I've worked in the legal field, doing more paralegal work than sec. stuff, since before MH was born; have potty-trained many young, thought-they-had-it-by-the-balls attorneys fresh out of school, in both Fed and state prosecutor offices. So, MF, don't presume your dream-world about property rights, self-protection rights -- the old codgers are way far ahead of you on this. And recently, the US Supreme Court has affirmed the gun rights. The "trespasser" issues are state court stuff.

Question: Would a jury find you not guilty if you killed me (I'm unarmed) for walking across your property? I'm serious as I don't really know the answer.

I'm gonna say it depends on where your on trial. Will you be on trial in San Fransisco or Montgomery, AL? That in my opinion is the biggest question.

If you are dead from being shot because you were walking across a pasture unarmed who's gonna know the truth .. person that shot you could say you tried to hit them with a stick or put a weapon close to you .. but in the end your still dead . It's not a chance ill take walking in someone's pasture .

As circlew said, a lot depends on where you're located. Some places the shooter might not even be charged, some places the shooter would be in a heap of trouble. Here in Illinois you'd definitely be charged but the rest depends on who's on the jury. In a criminal trial the verdict has to be unanimous.

Anyone that would shoot someone just because they were walking across their pasture should spend a few years in prison and never be allowed to legally own guns again. If they felt the tresspasser was a real threat then that's a different story. Not something I'd take a chance on, either, but then I have more respect for other people's property than some do.

Van, yes, you'd likely go to prison for knocking off someone walking across your pasture. I don't think there's a state in the Union that tolerates your use of deadly or lethal force if you, a loved one, or someone else not in your immediate proximity are not in fear of harm. A big guy, coming my direction through the pasture, telling me that he can go anywhere he wants to and do any damm thing he pleases, and didn't heed warnings to remove himself, would certainly set off all my alarm bells about just what his pleasure might be! JSC and Cerclew are correct in their comments about how that might go depending on what part of the country you're in (as well as how remote your location is), and what fact situation could be proved. I DON'T advocate shooting walk-throughs in the pasture.
