Our average price for 300-400# bull calves this week came out around $950. That's stocker calves at a sale barn. They're really not asking that huge a premium, though I'll agree that one prob'ly won't bring a premium.
I thought prices around here were decent, but they're nowhere near that. Average on Wednesday was between $600-650 for 3-4 weight calves.

Light weight steers and bulls have been out of sight here for weeks. Makes no sense, but here there's not much difference in the total dollar value from 300 - 500 pounds right now. I think order buyers are mostly to blame - stocker guys ask what 500# steers will cost, they sound high so they tell the buyers to buy lighter ones at whatever they cost - thinking it's got to be cheaper. It ends up cheaper by a few dollars, but not nearly by as much as it should.

is is a very tame (pet) Holstein heifer. She is 24 months old. She was bought from a local dairy farm 1 of only 2 female calves this farm has ever sold. She is not a freemartin. She has not been bred but is ready, willing and waiting. She weighs about 1700 pounds. The only reason I am selling her is that I have to move. She will make an excellent milk producer.

UPDATE....... this heifer has been genotyped A2/A2 by Veterinary Genetics Laboratory.

Ok I don't see anything wrong with this heifer tho I should be concerned about her being milk producer because of her age but she's easy to train judging from the pictures.

I just don't see how the risk vs reward is worth it for them. The one's I've talked to make any where from $20 to maybe $100 on them each. But the taxes they pay on the full sold amount eats up whatever profit they make. The only way I can see it being worth while is if they don't turn in the income to the gov. Of course that's taking a huge risk in itself as stock barns report to the IRS do they not?
I only pay tax on the net.

My question is why her out of the others is she saying she has to sell cause shes moving in the pic was another cow and no mention of that one being sold. I guess I pay attention to stuff like that too much.

Please dont flag! Some people cant bottle raise babies due to work schedules or other commitments. Bottle raising any animal requires a lot of time :)

If you have any goat, sheep or cow that has a baby that needs to be bottle fed, I can certainly take him or her in. I am a stay at home mother with a family farm and several of my goats are in milk and a cow that is in milk. And everything survives better on fresh milk :)

So if you need me to take a bottle baby, please give me a call. I dont mind ones that are handicapped or have something wrong with them as long as you feel they do have a good chance of survival :)

If this guy is getting these prices for calves still on the bottle, I need to sell the cows and just buy bottle babies from the local dairies and re-sell a few weeks later.
