always heard that to be physically fit you needed to be able to lift your weight and jump your height....I could do the former for years and then some....but I had to struggle to jump my height even laterally and certainly not vertically.

Im pretty sure it means to jump laterally. I don't think even Michael Jordan can jump his height vertically.
