I've been accused of being greedy, greedy , greedy for selling hay to a halal slaughter facility. It kinda stuns me that someone would think that, then again I guess it shouldn't. Since I let the boys take the wheel of the fence company I've been tinkering in other things. I enjoy hay but The hay equipment wasn't cheap and the weekly delivery to the slaughter facility sure covers some bills. Does your business not trade with these people? Should their money be no good here. ??? I mean it is a pretty good cash flow for me but I feel I earn it honest. Dang sure don't want to be greedy.

Greedy x 3? Naw. Maybe greedy x 1.5 ;-)

Some folks will say "Every man has his price and every man can be bought."

Some folks will say " It's just smart business and you're not doing anything our own leaders havent done for decades."

The thing that puzzles me is the fact you actually give a rats azz enough to ask the question. Never struck me as the type who cared what others thought of how you live your life; except for the people you maintain a close relationship with.

Just keep that slaughter facility on the edge of considering you too greedy. Then you don't have to worry about what others think.

Any backstory on why locals wouldn't want you selling to the slaughter house?

I really don't care ball. I've been trading with them about a year. I'm pretty sure there is a few locally who wish they had the deal. They feed alot of small squares, and it doesn't require high quality hay. As long as the stock eats it
And that's because there's less waste to clean up. The stock is only there a few days of course.
It started with some welding work. We had to wait until the floor finished before we could go to work but they let us start taking some tools in ahead of time. You could tell they where uneasy about us being in there...on thing lead to another. And that has changed. I've sat with one of the owners at the cow sale a few times. He finally said one day . Fence you treat us different than other people.
I guess I do. I only see a small business with very hard working people.
Not just locals criticizing, but I don't care to make it personal... ;-)

Pete setting up to do a little work on the chute a couple weeks ago.

It's just business, and people are people. Too many rural folks ate up the propaganda about Muslims being monsters that hate America.

Just tell em fence its business, nothing personal, if they dont like that tell em you'll make em a offer they can't refuse.

Nope you're not IMO.
Most that giving you grief are supporting them through a connivence store or gas stations.

Most of the people who complain about things like that would do exactly what you are doing if they could make a buck.

I've noticed anymore most people don't like to see other succeed. Probably because everyone is so materialistic and jealous.

My tire man is a young Muslim. A really good guy and a good mechanic. I had a long talk about business with him the first couple days he was open and we have become friends. I didn't think he would last it was so slow at the start, but he treats every one fairly and they return. Now he runs a big business with the redneck lifted truck crowd.
I have had to send my wife to him twice when I was out of the area and she had a tire issue. He has been nothing but courteous to her. His prices are very fair. Like Fence, I put a mans honesty and work ethic above all else.

I would say that what you are doing is just business! Like a couple have said before... talk like this usually comes from those who wish they had the business.

They gonna tar and feather you down there!

All jokes aside here's what I've found out. If you're gonna make a dollar, legally and honestly, there's always gonna be someone bytching about it. And like mentioned above, the reason why is because they didn't figure it out first and they're jealous and/or envious. Plain and simple. Keep making hay.

During the GW Bush administration there was a Kosher meat packing plant I think in Iowa but one of the states in that area. Had a Mexican workforce and the small town had become revitalized and new schools and such. ICE rolled in a hauled every worker off in buses and when the families found out they left also. They moved some Somalians in and work slowed down had to have a prayer room. As soon as the Somalians saved a little money they were gone. The owner finally had to shut down and the town is on decline again. This does not really have anything to do with Fences trading with the Muslims but only posted to show that a lot of workers provide a needed workforce for the food industry and this virus thing will slow down the processing plants of chickens and packaged beef because of the proximity of workers to each other working there.

We are, a capitalistic society (well, except for a few loud socialists) .
Capitalists, do things for profit...it's what makes them capitalists. If you were greedy, greedy, greedy, you would be charging them 3x what your work and hay was worth.
Profit..it's the upside of and an integral part of doing business in America.
Calvin Coolidge and Ronald Reagan stated it pretty clearly:
"After all, the chief business of the American people is business.

We all know you have helped and offered to help those in need, even if it's at a personal financial loss to yourself, so it's not as if you are a Ferengi

(examples of Ferengi Rules of Acquisition)
Once you have their money, you never give it back.
The best deal is the one that brings the most profit.
Never spend more for an acquisition than you have to.
Never allow family to stand in the way of opportunity.
Keep your ears open.
Small print leads to large risk.
Opportunity plus instinct equals profit.
Greed is eternal.
Even if it's free, you can always buy it cheaper.
Anything worth doing is worth doing for money.
Anything worth doing is worth doing twice.
Keep your family close, keep your profit margin closer.
A deal is a deal. (until a better one comes along).
A contract is a contract is a contract (but only between Ferengi).
A Ferengi without profit is no Ferengi at all.
Satisfaction is not guaranteed.
Only give money to people you know you can steal from.
Never place friendship above profit.
Never place friendship before profit.
A wise man can hear profit in the wind.
As the customers go, so goes the wise profiteer.
There's nothing more dangerous than an honest businessman.
Whisper your way to success.
What's in it for me?
Never make fun of a Ferengi's mother. (insult something he cares about, instead).
It never hurts to suck up to the boss.
War is good for business.
Peace is good for business.
If it's free, take it and worry about hidden costs later.
Friendship is temporary; profit is forever.
Profit is its own reward.
If it gets you profit, sell your own mother.
Every once in a while, declare peace. It confuses the hell out of your enemies.
It's better to swallow your pride than to lose your profit.
When the going gets tough, the tough change the Rules.
The flimsier the product, the higher the price.
A friend is not a friend if he asks for a discount.
Never let the competition know what you're thinking.
A friend in need means three times the profit.
Ask not what your profits can do for you, ask what you can do for your profits.
There are many paths to profit.
