    Getting on Site

Has anyone else hard problems getting on here or Ranchers last couple days? I'm wondering if it's just my system.

    Bull Pics

Just throwing some pictures up of the Bull that started breeding here last fall. Nothing special. I just like to do pictures here once in a while. I picked him up after the Rookie Bull I had lamed up. First pic is at 17 months. These are a couple from today. He'll be 2 year old tomorrow. He...

    Pictures

Have been bouncing over the frozen ruts in my little sacrifice feeding area. Taking the advice offered here, I decided as long as the ground was frozen and I had plenty of hay I would roll some out. When it thaws I go back to the rings. I just hate to see them plow the hills in the mud. It...

    Deer Behavior

I used to hunt every chance I had. Not much anymore. Saw a first yesterday morning. I have cows on both sides of a state road here. I walk/ride approx. 1/4 mile from the house, cross the state road, the creek and then travel along the creek parallel with the state road to what I refer to as the...

    Appalachian Mountain Farming (pics)

Everyone has been posting such beautiful pictures of their operations and livestock. I thought I would take a camera today as I start moving my haying junk home. This is part of the Widow Lady's place that lets me cut hay. The old boys around here call them shirttail patches. It allows me to...

    RAIN

It's hard to believe it's August here. We've had 11.4" of rain this month alone. Slowed me down on a lot of chores but I never complain about the moisture. Know what it's like to do without. I'll take this anytime over the heat and dry. fitz

Didn't wait long on another Bull

Final Answer composite. I bought this little fella earlier this morning. He is the replacement for the one I sold for salvage couple weeks ago. Plan to pick him up next week. I know it doesn't mean much to most without a picture. ASA# 2798320 fitz

    I'll lose on this one

Just got back from hauling this guy to market as a slaughter bull. Pic is at 15 months. Two and 1/2 year now. He messed up his right hock during his 1st breeding season last winter. After the injury it always looked like he had a soft ball in the joint. Was getting around O.K. so used him...

    Anyone have a better idea?

Was informed last week I'll be losing some pasture from a neighbor. They say short term, but I have to figure long term. Will cut back on herd by Oct. So I'm going to do an overall culling. Bull and 5/6 month steer calves going in Aug. I have cows exposed to Bull since 05/15. Of these, the ones...

For the Kingfisher (My Cat Ham Bulls)

Kingfisher, here's one of the last pics of my cat ham bull (Alpine Al) before he left. The new Bull calf really messed up a hock back in Dec. I told the Wife tonight, if he can get thru this breeding season, I may have to take a lose and let him go. Had high hopes for him. fitz

    Bull Turns Two

Put this little Bull with cows around Thanksgiving for his first go. I left him with them until last Sunday. He turned two years old in Feb. Won't use him again until last of May. Talk about an easy life. Only doing 12 - 15 cows per visit it's like he's on vacation year round. fitz

    Old Bull is Gone

Figured he should have been done with his last little group of cows so took my old Bull to market. He didn't cost me but one 12' gate as he spied some weaned heifers just before the loading. Scale weight was 2260. I think he had fallen off a little since pictures. fitz

    Bull Question

I have very little knowledge of cattle and none with a two Bull situation. Will need a different bull by Thanksgiving but I'm not done with the one here now. All the Spring sales are coming up and I was considering a yearling bull that I could bring along and have acclimated to this enviroment...
