Along the lines of snakes, what does everyone do that hunts in rattler country? Are those snake boots or chaps effective? They say stuff like, up to 19 inches. What about the important stuff 20 inches and higher?
I'm trying to get cajones big enough to do some bird hunting in heavy snake country, but I'm not sure I can get myself psyched up enough for it. Do they make a suite of 1/4 inch steel?
If you can't tell, I HATE snakes. Especially rattlesnakes, I've only had a couple run ins with them and I came up with a torn up knee trying to keep from stepping on one.
I love bird hunting, and this is prime bird country I'm talking about so I'm torn about it all. Figured you snake specialists that deal with them all the time would know some good options.
08 was one of the sevarel years bull shoals has been flooded 40+ feet, me and dad were in the boat fishing over what was beaver creek park, we whent by a tree and a cotton mouth that was over 6 foot came out, he swam around for a while then when up by the bank and started chasing some kids dog that had been down in the water barking at the snake. By far the biggest one I have seen.jedstivers":3ns1428y said:That has to be world record for a cotton mouth. That's unreal and I have seen some really big ones.

It's an old fishing guide trick Jed. The farther you hold em out front the bigger they look.
