It is not a new case! They (USDA) are retesting the negative case from November of 04. They are using a different test that is used in Europe. Just a bunch of political BS if you ask me.

I believe it was the Texas cow from November that is being retested. Unless they did something wrong in the US with the way the test was administered, it will come back positive. The western blot test they used has never had a false positive in the 100s of thousands of cattle that have been tested with it.

That's a rumor that it came from Texas or Colorado. As of this morning, USDA has not reported where it came from.

Appearently, the breed was recorded wrong then the DNA material got mixed up with other samples. It's like the Keystone Kops - they're tripping over each other to try to find out where this cow originated.

Compared to last week: Slaughter cows and bulls were steady. Feeder steers and heifers were mostly steady with instances $5.00 lower on four weight heifers. Feeder steers and heifers under 600 lbs 65 percent, (39 percent steers, 26 percent heifers), over 600 lbs 3 percent (3 percent steers, percent heifers), slaughter cows and bulls 32 percent.
