Our NFR threads usually go nowhere, so this'll probably fall on a deaf ear. I watched about hour of it before starting my afternoon chores. The stands looked empty, and the format is confusing. I might catch it as a rerun in the near future, and make more sense of it.

I'm watching it. It's pretty good. I finally figured out how they did the qualifying and also how they're going to pay. They claim the stands look empty because of a ice storm that prevented 10, 000 soldiers from coming.
I watched about 20 minutes before my sister's power went off. (I don't have anything but OTA TV)
I liked it too, but them soldiers shoulda fought their way thru the ice and snow, battling the wind and conditions to meet thier objective. (OK--I'm joking about that part)

they have been having the qualifiers on for the last couple of weeks
I think it is a good deal on the way that the top 10 in standings aren't qualified to win the million dollar pay out all they can win is the $125k
plus I think it was a good thing they invited some of the retired guys back in
I would of loved to see Ote win the dogging he is from Isomade's part of the country and a he77 of a dogger
the barrel racing was tough will be fun to watch the final 4

I'm still out facing the elements. Rfd is usually pretty good about playing reruns. Maybe they'll show it again. I didn't realize ote berry was in it. I would have liked to have seen Dan Mortenson ride. I hope he didn't get hurt. Joe and Ote both stood a good chance of tearing something to.

I just walked in, and saw Trevor Brazil holding a pistol on stage, and heard that Mike Lee looked like a 70's porn star. This must have been a strange rodeo.

yep Trevor won the all around who would of guessed He deserves it he is good
Ote's steer took a bad lay and knocked him out of it
Don't know about Mike Lee I'm not much into the bullriding
I prefer the broncs and the timed events myself the barrel racing was tough that's for sure
RFD is running it again at 8 tonite I believe

It looked like Joe Beaver and Justin McBride just showed up
Justin hadn't finished his nod calling for the gate when he hit the dirt. They said he got on one practice bull before the American.

Joe wasn't in shape
He timed the barrier right. Two swings and had it on him, but he didn't look very agile getting off his horse and going down the rope.
He still had a good time he just missed his hooey. Had he been 10-15 lighter and in practice I think he could still make the NFR if his hip would hold up.

Mike has had some bad wrecks, you can see the big scar on his head where the hair doesn't grow
The guys in Decatur tx where he lives say he'll ride his motor cycle around town in shorts, flip flops and a leather jacket when it's 20 degrees out
He was the PBR champion I think in 04 so he's been at it a long time

The truth is you are a different duck to make your living riding bulls and survive what he has and keep doing it

I watched the steer wrestling and team roping, I wish more stations would show that stuff instead of just bull riding.

Buying TV time is what busted Bullriders only and Tuff Hedeman to split from the PBR
The honest truth is rodeo right now today doesn't have the popularity to draw advertisers
Maybe events like the American will help

I agree, as much as I enjoy watching it, probably not many other people do nation wide. I'm sure if it was profitable, it'd be on every weekend.

I loved watching The American. I thought they did a great job of showing all of the runs in all of the events. Seems like they usually show three or four from each event then all of the bull riding and that gets old.
That Junior fella that is roping with Jake Barnes is fantastic. Love to watch him rope. Also was tickled to see Lisa Lockhart win the barrels because she is a friend of mine and absolutely deserved to win big.
I can't wait to see if they are going to do it next year.

I posted on here during the NFR that buckskin Lisa rides is the real deal
I'm not a barrel racing fan but I'm a fan of Lisa Lockhart and that horse

Also that Brazilian calf roper that staying with Stran is plenty good too

I agree with you Mountain_Fork. I am partial to the roping events but sure do love to watch Lisa and Louie run. She is a fantastic horse trainer. A few years ago my daughter was running barrels on her brother's hand-me-down calf roping horse. And Lisa taught my daughter how to make him into a pretty decent barrel horse, he was not a barn burner by any means but at the time he was perfect for her.

Mike Lee wins Thackerville Ok this weekend
I swear when he runs around the arena making his "victory lap" is the funniest thing ever

I missed going to a rodeo today, darned hay that needed raking and baling.

Last year I decided bull riding is FAR more dangerous than broncs... why? because after you fall off a bronc, it usually high tails it away from you, the bulls will usually turn around and try and make you a part of the arena.
