Well -
Started on the rough field I talked about earlier.
I went ahead and disced the flat parts that had many bumps gulleys etc and got them cleaned up. Going to drill the fescue and spray in the spring for weeds.
Question - renting the drill from the DNR. I have about half of this field lightly disked and the other half going to drill directly into existing.
They have a Great Plains or a Tye drill. Any pros or cons on either.
DNR person felt the Great Plains would be better due the ground being pretty dry and hard this time of year, but felt it was harder to get adjusted properly.
Will i need to adjust differntly for disced areas vs exsiting?

RGV : my experience of drilling fescue you will get a better stand broadcasting or sewing with fertilizer than you will drilling.
We are cutting our hay fields now will drill rye within the next 2 weeks.
You will not have to re-adjust your drill. Will set for a depth the hard or soft ground will be the same depth.

Drill by the calander. If you wait too long you may have waited toooo long. At elast if it rains the stuff is in the ground.
