the old rock that we know has gone the same way as the old country we used to listen to.theres no more geo jones waylon merle or johnny just like theres no more zztop led zeplin or queen.

I don't keep up with rock as much, but i did notice that there seems to be nobody new carrying on a ZZ Top or Bruce Springsteen tradition.
It just seems weird to me; rock was always the young generation's music; each generation had their own rock heroes, but now it's gone and apparently the Justin Bieber's have taken over.

all music these days has gone downhill terribly.. rock and country have essentially merged into what is new country, and it wasn't the better halves that merged.
I've pretty much given up on finding anything new in those genres, and I can't listen to a classic rock station that plays 10 songs by 10 band for the last 50 years :banghead: even if they were great bands.
I turn my musical attention elsewhere now, Electronica mostly.. It's pretty sad when "computerized" music is getting to be more real than rock and country.

Use Pandora and start creating your own stations. You'll start hearing unknown (to top 40) artist and then use them to create more stations.

One guy you folks south of the 49th may not know who's been around for decades and is currently on tour is Tom Cochrane.. It's on my Todo list to go see him.. If you like Tom Petty, Springsteen and the likes you'll probably like him... If you listen to country there was a cover of one of his songs.. Some of the more known songs are Mad mad world, Sinking like a sunset, Lunatic Fringe (One of my faves), Can't turn back, and White Hot

Classic Rock is all I tune in to. I still think of Country and Western as two different types of music before they were lumped together. Rock was pop back then.
I can't understand any words to the ghetto stuff. Its not about race. Chuck Berry could sing and be understood. Lionel - and even Michael. I cannot understand or relate to today's stuff.
