Some Crazy things that happend at Cattle shows

I agree. We use so much paint, oil, and glue we cant even see the animal underneath. Just slick sheer the lot and leave it at that. If your not proud of what you got then don’t show. We even have people who shave the cattles tail so that the butt will look bigger. Ever steer show ive seen at the...

Some Crazy things that happend at Cattle shows

The weirdest thing I’ve seen is this steer got spooked by a paper bag and he just took off running into the fair. Luckily the public wasn’t let in for a few more hours. But he ended up over by the games and rides. He wanted to win a gold fish for one of the cute dairy heifers back at the barn ^_^

    Fat supplements

What i uses is rolled corn. The price for it right now isnt to bad since the corn prices are starting to rise. But if you dont prefer rolled corn you could try using peanut oil. Gives them that fat and it does wonders for their coat.

    Shedding Baby Hair/Pre-Season Shearing

What my friend did with her steer was she would wash him once in the morning before being fed and again late afternoon before feeding him dinner. It promoted hair growth and the hair was really soft. you can try that and see if it helps them grow out of their baby hair sooner. Another boy from a...

Swollen injection site on show heifer?

Best method ive found is what Daisy suggested. I Just put my calf in the stanchion and put an ice pack on his neck for 20 mins 4 times a day, then just rub the spot. It went down within a couple of days.

What to look for in a breeding heifer?

One of the most important things is you dont want your heifer to be fat like a steer would be. If she is fat, fat will forum around her uterus and it may cause her to stop cycling.

    think outside the barn

wow that sounds so exciting! Ive only showen at our local fair up here but the fair is always fun. But were not allowed to have water fights at the wash rack or we get yelled at for being “unproefessional". Some people just wear cowboy hats to hide their horns. But like you said about...

    when do YOU start

Depending what your using them for I guess it would vary. If they are for Prospect Steers, Steers, or Show Heifers then I would guess around 5 to 6 months you would wean. But I buy my calves at 2 days old and wean them when their 4 months old since they're used for Baby Beef.
