My friend is in her second year of raising steers and I noticed that one of them is really stiff in his rear right leg. He rolls off of his left hip and seems like he doesnt have full molbility in his right leg. She is going to buy 200 dollars worth of cellerator to see if it makes a diffrence but I find cellerator to just be a mineral supplement and something to give animals that are under high stress or preformance. Is there some kind of heating device or injection that can be used to loosen him up? Our fair is in May. Thank you
 
a Kid in my FFA chapter had a shorty steer like that and they took it to the vet and they had him cut the tendons in his leg. Dont ask me anymore about it because im not really sure and i dont want to talk about something i dont know about but do ask the vet about cuting the tendons it works .
WAIT!! did you ever consider that his sire is to straight legged. Because in the maine breed Kadabra is a bull that you dont want to use because of the straight legs and they dont know how to walk/

He an Angus and Wagyu cross but that is really interesting about cutting the tendons. Something I would have never thought of.
 
Ever thought of a joint supplement? Like sound advantage or something similar. Cellerator isn't made to loosen a stiff steer. Sounds to me that he injured it or he is too straight.
 
Look into Actiflex 4000. It is a horse supplement but it works great for cattle. 100% natural and will not test. 60 days before the show we put our calves on it to help keep them walking smooth. Runs about $100 a gallon.

You might consider a chiropractor... It worked really well for some folks I know, and it sure beats the heck out of surgery and cutting tendons.

where do you find it?
 
he is walked 10-15 mins, loaded up on the trailer, to get him used to it, and he also runs around in his pin 3-4 times a day with his brother.
 
I wish I had that time, being in college saps all my time to work with my steers. I always manage to find some for them though, who cares if an essay is due, i would rather wash my steers! :banana:
