    Next project

Had a grownup fence line between us and a neighbors. Wish I had a before and after picture. Neighbors only request was to leave the biggest trees. Going back with T posts and 5-6 strands of barbed wire . Last perimeter fence hopefully we have to replace.

Been awhile since I’ve raised one on the bottle. Some of you ole pros ; how much for a month old calf ? Over fed her to start so I’ve been a little afraid to give her too much .Been going up about a half pint every 4-5 days . She’s getting 3 pints , 3 times a day but always seems hungry ...

    Spooked heifer

Feeding my 11 yearling heifers this morning when one turned and ran to the woods . She bucked , ran with her tail over her head and acted like something spooked her . The rest kept calmly eating. I followed her thinking she might kill over and die on the spot , but she was fine . Wasn’t sure if...

    Home made poly hay rings

Anyone ever made homemade poly hay rings . Former student is giving me a pretty good size coil of 3-4 inch poly tubing . Used for a natural gas line it was left over and now can’t be used because of some regulation . Wondering what to use for the upright posts and how to connect the pipe/rings ?

    Lost an old Matron

One of my old girls made it through the cold nights last week but I guess it just pulled her down too much . I was making sure she had hay but I should have been giving her some extra groceries. I know some think they ought to die on the farm but I’m one you need to get what you can out of them...
