Is that shredded newspaper for bedding??

That is.
They got a big machine in the upstairs of the barn that you can drop a whole paper bag filled with papers in.
Works real nice, softer and more absorbent than straw.
And we are being "green" by reusing and recycling lol ;)

Easy to deal with when "pitching" it ? Fascinating concept! Love to hear about new ideas on how people are doing things.

Knew a guy who used shredded newspaper exclusively for his dairy barn. It really keeps down the ammonia/manure smell, almost sweet.

Here's mine, an OLD cow who's 1/2 herf, half Saler, and her daughter that's 1/2 Gelbvieh... They're certainly 2 of a kind

Her other calves from the same sire, one was a whiteface heifer, the previous was a solid gold heifer, and before that there was 1 brockle and 1 solid red steer

Not the greatest picture, but here's the whiteface daughter.. I don't think she's quite as well built as her younger sister

And the previous one (the cow in the pic)
Your old cow in the top pic looks like she is giving you the stink eye  lol
