Simmental bull calves

Here's a couple of around 6 month old Simmental bulls. Thinking of retaining the solid black one as he is out of an older real good Simmental cow. The BWF is out of a registered Hereford cow.
They have not been creep fed, and cows has wintered on fescue hay, and just around 3 lbs a day of a 3 way mix of feed.

Lots of growth but both very straight on back end.

What is the green stuff they are walking in?

Both do look great. Deep, thick, great loin and rump. I also noticed hind legs "appear" post legged. May be pics.

Both look good. I'd clean up with the solid black bull and sell the bwf.

Those kind of bulls move fast in our state

I was planning to contact him about a bull but found one closer by. In the long run I would have been better off to have gotten one from Ron.

My bull is from Ron and I am very happy with him. I will try to post a couple of pics of the young bulls sired by him if I can get them.

He has some nice ones left. Just purchased 2 heifers from him last week.

No he is actually 3 weeks younger. I will re-evaluate the situation after weaning. I'd figured on the black calf being the pick due to his mother and her long history of production, but the BWF has impressed me.

They look good for six months. They change a lot until around that year mark. You like one this month, hate him the next, then he looks good again. The main thing is they both look like they have good growth. You can always cut them later if they don't mature the way you expect. White face means you can charge an extra grand or two around here for similar quality.

Well, it looks the initial plans have changed. The solid black calf looks like he is going to have a sloppy sheath, so the white face is going to be the keeper.
He is an F1 Simmental x Hereford.

The solid calf seems more floppy and hanging out a lot of the time. Their sire had an injury there and had to be culled, so was concerned when noticing that after being around them closer after weaning.

Maybe it's that white face but I really like the second calf . May just be the camera angles show him in a better light .

I ended up and sold him too, back in the spring. He didn't grow out like I had hoped.
