Pouring Concrete on Post

If your ground isn't /doesn't freeze you can pour it at any tempature . I build pole barns and we pour the concrete in dry around the post . Leave about 10 inches from the top . Ten top it off with water. . I also pour concrete for a living and I've never worried about it unless the tempature is going to be below freezing all day . Which is rare here . I poured a slab a couple weeks ago and it was 29 when I got to the job . 60 degrees when I left that evening . Concrete heats up from the inside caused by a a chemical reaction . I've never had one crack because of cold temps . It will set in water .
 
I usually only use barn sand when building fence. Only use concrete on the gate post especially if the gate is going the stay swung at odd angles
