Yes, I was referring to the years in which the two were produced concurrently. Maverick was to Comet what Mustang was to Cougar.

My mom drove a 1970 Ford Maverick when I was a small boy. I don't remember any of the specs on it, but it was red and had a really tough dashboard.
We were driving to town one day as the county was blading the dirt/rock road. There was a windrow of dirt and rock right in the middle of the road.
I was standing up in the floorboard clutching the dash as Mom decided she should cross over.
She got high-centered on a bowling ball size rock.
I lost my baby teeth and didn't get my adult Chiclets for a couple more years.
I got to sing that Christmas song with some enthusiasm, two years in a row.

My 2001 GMC 2500 Duramax burned up Christmas eve 2020 and I still haven't replaced it.
