After we moved we never put in Dish or Direct and they don't offer cable out here in the boonies.

I was OK with it for the most part, but that person I married so I could blame her for things wanted TV.

We put up an antenna today, and she happily has 20 something stations, and I don't pay for it every month, and no one will raise my rates.

Some web page somewhere, will tell you what channels are available in your area.

How far are you from the transmit tower and which antenna did you get?

I've been on antenna for nearly 8 years now, and most nights, we lose signal on one station or another just about the time my wife gets intersted in a program. We're 60 miles from the transmitter tho, and all of Houston is between us and the tower. Don't bother me as I get all my news and entertainment over the computer, but like your wife, mine likes her TV. I gotta do something different..or move. When momma ain't happy....

Strange, but before the switch to digital, we never lost signal. TV is new, all the bells and whistles and 100% digital ready, so I know it isn't the TV. Antenna mast is 30' high and oriented in the proper direction.

I think the biggest factors are line-of-sight obstructions and distance.

My antenna is 40'. My house elevation is 400' . It is the best Channel Master antenna I could buy. Get their pre-amp, and the rotator to aim the antenna.

My closest tower is 33 miles away. I am getting Memphis at a little over 100 miles away.

This is all crystal clear.

I'm down in a hole too--in a river bottom, but again, none of that never seemed to affect analog sigs.
Mine was the best Winegard antenna I could find--supposed to be good for 60 miles, but I guess still too many dang Nat Forest trees around, even tho I have been called "the Dr Kevorkian of arborists" several times on account I got rid of almost every tree on my place in 2008-2009.

You gotta get out of the hole.

It says I would only get 9 channels. Half of those didn't amount to much.
It told me I get 4.

Your mileage may vary.

I get ABC, CBS and NBC along with some other crap.

The digital signals must be weaker the the analog. We get about 20 station being about 50 miles from their locations with an outside antenna.

I notice on the NBC station it has "blank" spots that last a millisecond or two. They happen randomly pretty much all the time. It's just enough to miss out on some critical words in a conversation. The station has a feature called "Rant", where folks can complain about anything on their heart. I noticed one night someone's rant was about the no sound spots. They didn't have an answer.

But I remember mom saying, "Beggars can't be choosey".
