DCA, are you raising Corrientes for roping or dogging? Or to sell to ropers/doggers? If not, a LOT of people who have Corrientes are breeding those cows to Angus bulls. Those little cows are great mommas, and will wean off a black polled calf nearly as big, if not as big, as an Angus cow will. and, you can raise 2-3 of these cows with about the same grass/hay/feed as a full beef type cow. Last few years, solid black Corrientes are all the rage, and rodeo stock producers are paying more for, and selling these higher, than the multi-colored ones you used to see at rodeos and team ropings. This is due to the trend toward breeding these cows and heifers to the Angus bulls, when no longer needed to get Corriente replacement heifers.
