Doesn't the fact someone attained their concealed carry permit satisfy licensing requirements in Leach's example?

The host asked him about steps toward gun control, Leach is a big time hunter and fisherman. He had a suggestion I thought was good, to paraphrase his words; we as Americans have to pass and receive a license to operate a car, same for a boat, same for a plane, we have to carry that license for proof of passing a test making us legal to operate said dangerous device. Why is it we can't do the same for firearms? We don't have to provide proof of shooting accuracy, just that we know basic knowledge, the difference between a rifle and a shotgun, difference between a revolver and a semi, where the safety is and how to operate, how to load and unload, how to check if it is loaded or not.... Etc. he said it's not to check for mental illness but just to meet and make sure gun owners know what they are buying and doing. Too many new gun owners buying weapons and not knowing cr@p about them.
For the most part I like it, study firearms and pass a test just like a vehicle. Both deadly, both may need proof of passing a test and understanding basic operations.

I do believe the answer lays in education to the masses on gun safety and proper handling......... But then how do you educate those not wanting to learn? You can't.

I understand your view, But what makes him an expert that warrants his opinion in the media. its hair brained ideas like his that feed the public against guns.

So you would be okay with getting the death penalty if you used a gun to defend yourself and would by some chance were found guilty of a crime in the process?ram":1r9i9f80 said:It's hard to fathom that a legal gun owner would want more legislation on guns. It just makes no sense to me. We need the death penalty for criminals that use guns.

I happen to agree with you on that. Some of those drugs Dr. hand out by the bottle full, can really mess a person up if it's not monitored, and levels regulated.gimpyrancher":36gmqvj0 said:This may not surprise many but I have a different the on all these mass shootings.
According to something I read recently, it appears most of these shooters were on some type of SSRI's. These are the new rage in healthcare for people with "minor" psych complaints. One of the things they are known for (side effect) is blocking empathy in patients. Seems like a money maker for pharma. The gun manufacturers and the all gun owners get the blame and Pharma gets richer.
