Heifer to butcher?

I have this 3 year old heifer, she breeds but won't stick. I was thinking of putting her on feed for about six weeks-or-so and using her for a butcher beef for myself.
Do you think that she would make a good eating beef?? She is angus. She weighs 1250 lbs.

Yes she should be fine.

There is actually a name for that kind of beef. They call it heiferette. The only thing you might see is more yellow than white fat.
 
I did just that, fattened her out and had my first ribeye last night.

I'm curious. What color was the fat? Did you have it graded?
 
Hey...yellow fat is a good thing.
The yellow fat indicates a high level of Beta Carotene in the animal's diet...grass fed.
Slaughtered a nice open three year old Herf this past spring and she was some of the best eating that Ican remember.
