Ditto to what Keren said. Really nice cow. It's a real "bite" when a good one slips her calf. I always give them another chance in that case unless this was "strike two".
Please excuse the old post being brought back up, but I almost forgot to post this picture. When I originally posted this thread, a couple of people asked that I post pictures of the calf when it was born. So, I thought I would post it into the original thread. Maybe, everyone will understand why she got another chance after slipping a calf last fall.
This calf is now 1 1/2 months old.
This is a bull calf born this spring from another cow.
Nice cow and Calf....I read through the whole thread and didn't even realize it was old 'till I came to the end.
Anyway, I sure would take that cow--like her alot and I'm a big fan of black ones
I don't know if it's the way she's standing but she seems a little heavy in the front end, but I'd put her in my herd.
We've kept open cows (the great ones not the plain jane ones) over a winter to breed them again in the spring, but they only get one chance. If they don't get bred the second year they are gone.
