Can we survive the downturn? Have we enough money laid back to meet all obligations? There will be a lot of notes needing serviced if your highly leveraged. You can try to cut overhead that does not have any thing to do with the cows. An Uncle of mine would tell you to not charge any thing to the cows that they do not deserve. I found a check stub for calves sold in 2010 they were about the price they are now so that was six years ago. I think we may have a long wait before we see anything like we have seen in the past few years. I have been very careful in the machinery area. Newest tractor a 2005 model. Did buy a new hay rake last year. Most of the machinery purchases come from income made from other places. May just get rid of the tax write off and save my money. Looks like the only tax write off is losing money with the cows.
