Help Support CattleToday:

Hope I have those results. I am just using this bull as a clean up. I will
A.I. as many of the 21 cows that I can catch in the natural heat cycle.

We uaually breed most of the cows/heifers AI first. We split the herd up and turn the bull, frequently 12-13 month old in with those and AI the rest on natural heats then turn them in with the bull a couple of days after AI. The only one we had a problem with was with the bull for almost 6 months and never did settle. Can;t blame a young bull for that. In good years the yearling bull only has to breed 3-4 but one year a yearling bred 21 cows/heifers and all settled first service. But he was kind of unusual in having a scrotal of 44 cm at 11 months.

What does the 15 mo old bull weigh? That's important.
To me, the weight doesn't really matter as long as the cows get bred. Used a 800lbs bull on 12 cows before and all cows calved in 2 weeks period.
