Bill O'Reilly needs a muzzle

The problem you have with Bill is he doesn't report what the leftist, socialist public likes to hear.

Media sources such as O'Reilly that turn victimized children into scapegoats are pandering to their public for ratings and feeding their own arrogance. You turning this into something "leftist" goes past ignorance...and continues to spiral downward.

I watched the Ricky Hatton Fight last night, now I get to watch the Alice / CB battle. So far CB has won all the rounds.

The problem is not with "pappa bear" Bill, it is with Shawns parents for making money off this. What in the heck are they doing putting this boy on national TV at this point in time? $$$.

I agree, we will not ever know the whole story thanks to the evolving news media, who has turned into entertainment TV. Meaning they don't report the news they make the news into stories that will get the ratings, half truths and spins.

Shawn was old enough to know how to and had many, many chances to escape, yet didn't..... why?

I love the guy watching out for me and thank the good lord for the "no spin zone"! Just kidding .... a little, very little.

I have seen snippets of this case on the NEWS and it srikes me as odd. Not saying the Kidnapper was right but he seemed to treat the boy better than his parents. I think I would have kicked up a lot more fuss if one of mine had gone missing, and searched the neighborhood at points everyday. It sounds a bit like that case of years past when I think her name was Patty, her Father was a big wig business man but after he did not come up with the money she joined in with her kidnappers. does anyone remember who she was????

Years ago there was a child welfare case in one of the satellite cities of the DFW area. An 11 year old boy was found dazed wandering around his front yard. He'd been scalded from head to foot. As punishment, his mother, for lack of a better word, had filled a bathtub with scalding water and told her son to get in it and lie down. The child did because his mother told him to. He did not fight her, she did not have to physically force him to do it...he did it because she told him to...she had that much control over that child.

When I think of Shawn Hornbeck, and think of the people asking "Why didn't he run, he had every opportunity to," I think about that 11 year old boy who also had the opportunity to run from a tub of scalding water and didn't...because his mother told him to get in it and lie down. It was his mother...he'd been conditioned to obey his mother, and he almost died from it.

I agree about the child and his family appearing on Oprah, and I was sickened that Oprah managed to get that child and his parents on her show. I have no more respect for Oprah than I have for Bill O'Reilly...never have had. I've never watched Oprah, and have no intention of ever watching the sound bytes of her show interviewing Shawn's family.

That aside...the child is not the criminal. And, I'll be interested to see if Shawn Hornbeck was not the first child Devlin kidnapped and terrorized.

Thanks for that Alice, I would have pondered all night trying to think of her name.

This boy Shawn, should have been conditioned by his mother also as he was 10 or 11, and we get our conditioning in our formative first 5 years, so there must be more to this story than meets the eye. not saying the kidnapper, if he was at all in this case, was right though. I know he was in the most resent case. How did he get found, in the end? we never got that part here.

Shoulda, woulda, coulda, Chris. Personally, the only person I'm going to pass judgment on is the criminal, the kidnapper, who, by the way, is now saying he was "lonely."

And I'm still wondering...what difference does it make WHY Shawn didn't try to escape? This creep kidnapped Shawn and then another child, and possibly children before Shawn...does Shawn's not taking opportunities to escape lessen the creep's culpability in this? What does it have to do with the kid being kidnapped, a heinous crime, in the first place. I cannot believe people and Bill O'Reilly are actually assigning some sort of fault or blame to the kid that was kidnapped.

The kids in the US are taught from kindergarten on to report abuse and how to contact help. Kids are constantly getting something from school.
I have several teachers in the family and they are constantly passing out flyers and going over them in class.
They have law enforcement officials come in and warn of kidnapper schemes and how to escape.
I have trouble believing Mo. schools are so backwards that none of this is done there.
Again this dog ain't hunting they get to digging deeper I bet they find these parents suspectable as well.
That kid sure didn't look like he was thrilled to be with Mom on TV.

I just found it humorous that CB said you had a case of the H. U.A.'s. Not that I think you do, I actually think you give the board a lot of good input as does CB.

I just think you're wrong to put blame on O'Reilly when he is just voicing his opinion as a (fair and balanced) journalist, just like every other journalist in the country.

Regardless, it is still a very legitmate question to ask, Why did the boy not try to escape or make contact with anyone? He had all the chances in the world. Also, recently on the news was a story of a young girl, I think 9, who escaped out of the trunk of a car in New Mexico at quick mart type store.

Again why can a 9 yr old do it and not an 11 yr old? the blame falls 100% to the parents.

Washington County Sheriff Kevin Schroeder's statement to the press after Devlin's arrest and booking into the Washington County jail:

"There is a lot of speculation in this case about what Shawn should have or would have or could have done," Schroeder said. "You can pose those questions about anything. I suggest people educate themselves.

The end.

First off, the kidnapper is a criminal and needs to be punished.
Second, when all of the facts are known about if the kid was threatened or what for him to stay with the kidnapper.
Third, his life with his parents needs to be looked into, (was there abuse there or what).

Maybe Bill O'Reily's comment will get more people checking things out.

What education does the sheriff suggest people get?
Maybe some police work that he isn't doing.

My grandfather was from Mississippi, as a boy of 10 or 11 he disappeared from the family farm with a Mexican farm worker. His parents said he was kidnapped and since he was in Mexico (this was in the late 20's early 30's) they could not get him back. The day he turned 16 the Mexican told him that his parents contact was done and he was free to go. He said he was sold as farm help to the Mexican and was always treated and fed very well... parents said he was kidnapped.

I knew my grandfather as a young boy, he was a great and kind man. But things aren't always what the appear to be.

I know one thing, and that's for fact, Is people have to educate their Kids about Predators and the Freaks we unfortunately have been forced to co-exist with and not depend on Law Enforcement for education about them.

I say we start Micro Chipping these scum bags in a location, that if they tried to remove the chip, they'd Hemmorage and Die.They dont register when they cross State Lines, and soon find another victim to satisfy their sick selves. Get a Rope.

I think maybe the sheriff was referring to something along these lines.

You didn't have this before everybody came out and you had special rights. You didn't hear of kids being abducted in the 50's and 60's. What changed is morality in this country and the penalties to punish these animals once and for all.
Who has lead the charge for the society we live in today the liberal left.
Enough Said.

Hmmm, and here I thought it was misguided leftists that blamed everybody but the criminal.

Well, this old moderate is still blaming no one but the criminal...not the kid...not the parents...the criminal. And all of this blaming of the kid and the parents is going to play right into the hands of the criminal's defense attorneys. And if this blame assigning doesn't stop, another predator may very well get a lighter sentence than he deserves and will be able to walk the streets amongst us...and if that happens I will gladly furnish Crowder the rope.
