    That free calf may well turn out to be the most expensive calf you will ever have. If he makes any of your other cattle sick you will be sorry. Never bring a sick calf onto your farm.

    That 7 way or black leg you used alwayes leaves a lump if it takes. I always look for the lump and it is a good sign. Further it will come off with the hide so some cattle buyers like to see it in calves they are buying. It tells buyers that the calves have been taken care of and have some vac.

    If youwant Angus heifers just find some other ones. Don't get stuck on this one heifer. You can find plenty. You might try contacting some Angus breders in your area.     I have had hay on the ground for two days. I washed all the trucks and parked them outside with the windows down. Left a load of feed on the back of a truck over night and still not a drop. It is looking like another dry one for the 3rd year in a row.

    I just don't recomend heifers for the first time cattleman. I think you would be better served with some young cows that have had a calf or two. Start with cows that know what is going on untill you learn what is normal.
