Cutting hay today

Help Support CattleToday:

A few weeks ago it looked so sorry I almost turned the cows in. A little bit of rain, fertilizer and some warmer weather has really made a difference. It isn't going to break any production records but it is more than I had expected to make this spring. I've got a lot of empty barns to put it in, that is for sure. Only 2 weeks behind last years first cutting or 3 weeks before the last cutting last year. Hope we don't have a repeat. Last big rain last year was May 15th. :(

Got the first scrapping in.

10 acres made 26 rolls (about 13 tons)

Now we need some rain to finish growing what I fertilized 2 weeks ago. Getting hot and dry again.

The first cutting is rolled and in the barn. Well half is in the barn the other half got rained on for a week befor it got rolled so it is stored in the field for mulch. Does anybody need some water cured rye grass hay cheep?
Everthing has been fertelized and some nice rains have got it growing good. The second cutting should start in about 3 weeks.
