Why the LA200? The bandimine will ease the pain but why LA, does the calf have an infection?
I think the vet grasping at straws here cause he doesn't have a clue.
Real good advise here blk mule.
I figure your ground is alot like mine and selenium deficient too.
I feed the vita-ferm cow calf 5 starting in january (calving in march)then late march I switch to breeder booster+mag.
Great mineral, pricey but worth it IMO
If you are in a dry area and their hooves crack from being dry, then they stand in the creek...they will get foot rot.
Have you fished around in there to make sure nothing is stuck between the toes?
What did you give for the foot rot?
If you can afford them have at it. Seems like you are confident that the cattle were well cared for. Calve them out wean calves and send the feeders and the canners to the sale and triple your money.
I don't think KeoPec will cure the problem just sooth it. If they are scouring I would want to solve the problem quick as possible.
This is ollie's mix. I've used it and it works great.
Crowder, that stuff up here is pink. Might work better with them pink chinks that Texan has.
Rumor has it, Texan hired ollie' to custom sew him some holiday clothes. Wonder how that is going???
As for A6gal...If you'd have shipped her at this point like you should have...
You wouldn't be...
Anytime
Is she just too full? Or heavy with calf that will make her heavy on her feet.
Sorry I can't help more. But, I don't have any extra ear in my cattle. Matter of fact, I have some that were frost bitten off  only half ear!!
Have you changed pasture or hay on her lately? If your feeding hay, any chance the bale you just put out is from a different field and better quality?
She might be a tad bloated which may make her walk like she has a limp because she is uncomfortable.
And plural of hoof is HOOVES.
You know Texan, the more I think about the more I'm sure there won't be an appology.
First 69 will most likely claim that he was unfit at the time of the post. Probably because Bez scared the sht out of him.
But, if 69 follows that well spoken advice, he should not be back to frequent these...
Thanks Texan, but I think that most of us just considered the source and looked past it. At least I did. Shouldn't speak for the rest of the dolls on the boards though.
Brokenmouth, are you sure 30 minutes is often enough? Maybe some flyspray and a fan would help him too? Carry his feed in and be sure to put the pan just under his nose so he doesn't have to move too much to eat.
Milkmaid,
as much respect as I have for you...this calf sounds pretty severe. I would suggest you pass on this one.
Gotta love your "go get um" attitude!
What a great kid!!!
I always thought ADF was an estimate of heat damage.
So if that is correct, the amount ADF is non-nutritional forage. Which would make it mold, must or dust. Or otherwise of no value.
Anyone help me out here? Its been a long time since ruminate nutrition 101 in college.
