    A Day for Northern Rancher

On a lighter side I know of only one thing that could get NR going. That is trying to get him to take an EXT cow. He will be missed.

    Guessing Game

Mike It sure does my heart good to see you running those good ANGUScows. :devil2: :devil2: Looks like you're doing a good job of breeding up. Keep up the good work.

    Black Baldies

Any breed can register anything they want as far as I'm concerned. The thing that bothers me is when they call them purebreds. To my way of thinking any breed that breeds up with other breeds for any trait selection is cross-breeding. If they want to register them that is fine just DO NOT call...

    Registered Angus Bull question

Just reread your post. If you mean is registration # the answer is no. The tattoo is the # you have assigned the bull.

    100% Grass Raised

With only 50a of pasture are you going to be short on pasture? I realize that you have a longer growing season but drought/to much rain/ and any number of reasons can make grass in short supply. My thinking to optimize your limited resources is to buy calves and finish them rather than try to...

    Winter calvers inhumane

If I start on Pharo I'll need my son the paramedic to come revive me. That is just plain absurd.

    Charolais breeders question

There are several good Char breeders in IL. Nord Farms in Bloomington and LaFraise in Flanagan are 2 that I would consider if they are close enough. In Dec. Swegle Creek had their dispersal and they had some top notch cattle.

    Beefmasters worthless in the north.

There is a herd of beefmasters right down the road from my place and they do just fine in the winter. They will acclimate to an area just like any other breed. The different herds of them here in central IL seem to do pretty well at the sale barn too.

    CAB Researchers explain Decline

Next week the AAA is having an outreach seminar in my area of which I'm going to attend. This thread and some of the others are going to be some of the questions I will ask. I have printed some of the comments made so I will have the concerns of others right in front of me (so I do'nt get...

Angus, a superior product or superior marketing?

Lets not limit it to just those breeds. I say this because I know the others still have cattle in their original hide pattern.

Angus, a superior product or superior marketing?

Angus, a superior product or superior marketing?

Well I think it's about time to let this dog lie. We angus promoters are never and I mean never going to convince these anti-angus people that we are the best. I've been hereing this song and dance about angus just being a fad that will die for more than 40 years. It's now time for them to step...

Angus, a superior product or superior marketing?

That is an excellant point Easy. Some associations are doing it and they are making some progress. Time will tell how it all plays out.
