Recently we have had some confusion regarding the rules of open range in my area. It usedto be(and has always been) if you live in an open range area you can turn your cows out, just keep an eye on them and do the neighborly thing and go get them if they get in with someonelses cows. But now...
What kind of measuments are you looking for? What size(for what ever breed you raise) do you look for at 1 year and 2 years?
Just looking for a ballpark number.

My jersey finally calved... A 30 pound Heifer on Feb 28th. One day before her due date. Mom and baby are doing just fine.

How much grain should you feed a First Calf Jersey Heifer before and after she calves? I plan to milk her twice a day for all shes got. She weights almost 1000 pounds.

Right now in the Northwest you cant find a registered highland heifer for sale for less that $1500 or a registered cow for less than $2500. Highlands handle the heat well, they just sleep in the shade during the hottest part of the day like the rest of my cows. The hides and skulls are worth a...
This is a cow out of a cow I bought from a neighbor three years ago. I dont know what breed she is. Some people have suggested Hereford or Shorthorn influence. I want to know because she had a great calf two years ago. He ended up Hanging at 574 pounds at 14 and a half months with out any grain...
