Here's what really needs to take place and Farmers and Ranchers could push for it. In the Oil producing countries do you think those citizens are paying $4.00 for a gallon of gasoline? The truth is in many countries the citizens are taken care of by their Goverments from the oil wealth. This is one of the things our goverment is shoving down the Iraq goverments throats.

THE REALITY OF THE AMERIICAN FARMERS WAY OF LIFE. The color fits the title.

People being taken care of by their governments is another word for a socialist state. Marx preached it, Lenin, Stalin and successors practiced it....it didn't work then...it won't work now.

you dont realize that if you could get together as whatsupdoc3 has said you will not go under you have the control you just choose not use it just what would all the banks ,and gas co ,traders ,manufactors, do with out farmers ,cattlemen you are on the top and everthing you do trickles down to the others you are the ones that keep them in business! what would all the banks do if you stopped producing ,and not pay the morage or take out a loan for new tractors are they going to take all the land in every state it would be devastation to them ! together we stand divide we fall or take what they want to give you, everbody has tryed to do it divide and look where we are at it time try something diff like standing together and it is not just the farmer its everbody in united states take back control !!! farmer just don't realize what they could do if they got together !!!!!!!!!!! this is just my half cent because that all they will give me

Standing together for a constructive purpose has lots of merits. What you're preaching is to bring the country back into the dark ages at best if not to totally destroy it. Heck even in those days the "kings" got richer and the poor man got poorer.

As for those oil producing countries.... do you see any real govt's represented? Do they have independent stock holder owned oil companies meeting to discusss oil issues? Nope it's all state owned and the king, prince, sheik or dictator with the strongest army owns it all. Yeah they get cheap gas and cheap bread. If they posted something against their country on a board like this they wouldn't have a head tomorrow.

If you don;t like the game you have 3 choices. Change the rules, take your ball and bat and go home or tough it out like farmers have been doing for years.

The whole ethonal thing is the real cuplrit here. The bad thing is its not bringing down gas prices.

Ethonal is more of a symptom of the world economy, china, india, etc., and their increased consumption of fertilizer, fuel and about everything else they can't grow or make themsleves. More people are fighting over the same size pie.

JUST A GROUP OR GROUPS OF INDIVIDUALS WITH A VISION OF CREATING THEIR MARKET SHARE OF CORN PRICES BEING OFFERED THEM BELOW THE PRICE OF PRODUCTION. Well it paid off for the open minded ones.

Isn't that what EVERY "for profit" business is about...not necessarily limited to those working off corn prices ???????? Supply and demand works. You got it, I want it, I pay your price or I don't get it and vice versa. Exxon makes 40 billion...don't blame them. That's their job !!!!

Anyone can be a loner. I have always been told there is strength in numbers. Then whats the other saying some people happy with just biding out their time. Anyone can set on the side lines and take advantage of what the others have acheived that in the end they benifit from.

But not everyone can or will participate in things that benifit others. ONE takes resolve the other takes complacency.

Read CBs post on farmerds workign together

One takes someone that is tough enough to do what has to be done the other takes a whiner.

Am I the only one that can remember the NFO members withdrawing there milk from the market in the 60's? I can tell you personally how many put milk in the drains after fluid milk went up fifty cents a hundred

I read an article last week that claimed the Big Oil companies were buying up alot of the corn. One reason was it is cheaper now than will be next year, another is they want to use it for their ethanol and force the small time ethanol producers out. They can do it. Especially when they keep reporting record profits. I don't get it. When JR took office we all should have sold our cows and invested in the oil companies and Halliburton. Thats where their money is. If Hillary gets in we need to invest in Latex. Protection with condoms. What do we invest in if Osama gets in.

The name is OBAMA not Osama!

jerry-gel and chickens

Onecowfarms1, do you have a problem with people who have curly hair and like to eat chicken? It's people with your prejudice attitude who continue to hold this country back and keep problems stirred up!

Were's the BEEF

YOu either figure out a way to role with it or you will get left behind.

Get ahead of the game. Start your herd now on cattle who are known for producing well on grass only. :D Then when ever one elses light bulb turns on you can make a killing off them.

You need to find a head puller. Every Cattleman in this country could hold his beef. More imports would come in.
I don't know many cattlemen that could hold there calf crop. I could hold mine for a year you going to pay my fuel bill as I still have to cut hay to feed them. I still have to buy fertilizer you going to pay that?
Our enemy is Congress on imports.

Sell some cows and invest in the very commodities that you are talking about. They have ETFs that anyone can own now that track the commodities. Instead of losing money on more cows, let the stocks help pay your feed bill.

It seems to me that there is some old farmers around here that was left behind, looks to me like we are about to catch up with them agin. They still run cows on grass and hay put out a little mineral. They make do with what they have, some would say they don't any cows poor management don't feed them all kinds of stuff like that. They aren't trying to win any contest, just producing cattle as cheap as possible. and they will make it work. The problem we have today is to many bells and whistles. if you don't have to have it leave it at the store.

Hmmmmmm! six pages in one day I think we need to spend a little more time working and a little less time bitching ,me included

I remember the NFO from the sixtys and it wasn't only milk but pigs and vealers to. If we farmers all had the same debtload and input costs we could band together to make our voice louder. But that wont happen cause we're all to independant and stubborn. Another reason it wont happen is that some other farmer is trying to get our rented land from us or we're trying to do it to someone else. It's a sorry commentary for todays agriculture but it's the truth and we have to deal with it.

Yep last month in January our cow grain went up over $100, and its still on the move, but not near as bad as January. I think its the darn ethanol thing, pushing the price of corn out of this world.

GMN

I agree this is a big part of the rise in feed cost. When corn gets bought for fuel then other grains either go up due to increase demand for them to avoid high corn prices or land used to produce them is turned into corn ground. It all turns into a big snowball affect.

Then link that with the growing demands over seas and you have a mess of instability.
