Now your talking, where's the grits?

I didn't take a pic of my plate but we had cheese grits, French fries, hushpuppies, and sweet pickles. The mullet was the start of the show tho

these were swimming in the Alabama river yesterday .
Looks like the whiting my buddy's brought home. How are those mullet for table fair? I allways figured em for bait or looser fish.

Never heard of eating mullet. Going down to port lavaca next weekend, I'll take my castnet and try some just for you dash.
We usually use mullet for bait, but that plate does look good.
One thing, did you clean em with a hatchet.... ;-) :lol2:

Maybe a recipe?

I went out there when they were scaling them I had to stop them from cutting into chunks. I scale and typically cut one filet off of the small ones leave back and other side on , big ones I filet both side and keep backbone . tiny ones fry whole . they are easy to scale. I love the crispy skin and tail. I salt roll in corn meal and drop in hot grease. They will float when done. They are also a good breakfast fish with cane syrup and biscuits. And also makes a good sandwich with plsin ole lite bread
