Think she will make milk?

And this is why we check em when we see em playing dead....

I got 2 big blue pills in him. Hopefully that clears up the scours and he gets to feeling better.
I'll give him a couple days and if that don't work, I'll be getting some resflor or something in him.
He IS nursing. Tho NOT with enthusiasm...
Very punky looking today. Notice head is low. Ears are a bit droopy. Just doesn't look right. It's been nearly 100 past 2 days. Good heavy, but over quickly, rain last night. May be related....

If you have not tried it, SX Calf works wonders for dehydration from scours. Helps the calf feel better and get back to eating.

I'll see how he's doing tonight. I had thought about giving him a bottle of electrolytes. I think he would still take a bottle easy enough.

He did seem perkier this morning tho! Must've had a heck of a tummy ache. Went right to nursing more with gusto this morning.

I keep fresh water available for these 3.
It's filled daily. Just enough for the day usually with a tad bit left over.

Edited to add
@TCRanch he did seem quite hot when I worked to get those pills in him. But it was 100 degrees yesterday too. Guess I should break down and buy a thermometer.
Gotta use with caution. He farts occasionally and it ain't pretty. Need a hang a sign on him. "Keep back 50ft!"

Murray, a thermometer is essential. Actually, 2 or 3. Not only to determine what's wrong, but the severity. I've never seen you quote this, but it hurts my head when someone says they don't know what's wrong but pumped the animal full of antibiotics anyway. Was it warranted?

Back to 2 or 3, especially if its digital (which is my preference). You never know when you're going to lose one or when the battery will die. Probably 5 years ago I treated Dick for pneumonia that hit him hard & fast. Kept him in the barn for 5 days, vet said to take his temp & re-treat if necessary before I let him join the herd. Super docile bull, no need for a chute, so I scratched his butt & popped in the thermometer. Dangit, it was dead. Not to worry, had a backup in the workshop. Walked up to him, scratched his butt & popped it in. Dangit, are you kidding me? My backup was also a goner. Poor Dick just turned his head around & looked at me like Seriously? I'm out! Guess he had enough.

Geronimo is doing well. Didn't take much to get him going again.

Bessie does NOT like her adopted heifer. Shoves her around with her head. Just don't like her one bit. She's downright absolutely against that idea. Ain't my baby. Leave me alone!
🤣
Until I dump the feed......

Bessie could stand to gain a few pounds anyway. Guess I'll leave em penned and feed her a while. Not a lot. Just enough I reckon. The 2 calves seem to get her emptied before she's done eating so it all works out.

The heifer actually went to eating feed with Bessie day or two ago. She much prefers milk. One day at a time....

May not try a 2nd set next year. Gonna have to be diligent about having 2 extra calves for her when she freshens and call that good.

Still penned up.
Sevens 2nd calf (the heifer) has taken great interest in feed and fresh Bermuda Square bale flakes. Bessie just really ain't got the juice for 2 calves. I'm considering pulling the lil heifer and putting her with Mouse and Minnie. (The 2 recently acquired babies)
Leaving Geronimo on Bessie for a while.
I will most likely not attempt a 2nd set next lactation. It's apparent to me, it's just not the same for her without her own born calf to love. She loves on these 2 but at the same time decides she had enough nursing and goes to shoving them around.

Heifer is about 3 months old anyway. She will wean easily now that she eating well. And Geronimo will do better with more milk.

So give her that wf calf you brought home, that she wanted so much, and let her put some size on it until she is where you want to dry her up....
Sold her!
Gotta take the money while it's good.

Buuuuutttt........

You know full well the calf goes inside of the cab. You're changing on us man….

I agree...he's now the Marlboro man, notice you couldn't see the shadow of his hat in the river pic?
To be fair...
I did say, I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT I BOUGHT yet. 🤣😀🤣😀

Bought the lil calf sight unseen. Didn't even know if it was a bull or heifer til after. Hell! I didn't even know what color it was!

Turns out, calf is 2 to 4 week old bull calf that lost its old arse mama in the creek. There was some uncertainty on age. But he still has an umbilical so there's that. He should be about 70-75lbs.

O yeah.. couple more pics.
Other side of river. Sun was fierce! See the deer?
