These are not my cattle personally but are from the farm I manage.

There's a bit of everything, all taken and posted from my phone sorry for the lack of detail. It seems the image might be too large, maybe someone could take a look and repost the worst of them.

Nice photos OME. Do I spy those nice char x angus heifers in there - their calves are looking good.

That is soooo wrong! You actually have DUSY DIRT in the laneway! So not fair.
Here I am with mud up the kazoo and 20+ inches of snow on top and today it's RAINING
I love winter - snow, cold - but, this is NOT winter. Very WRONG.
BTW - nice pics - cattle look good - calves look good.

Nice looking cattle.

Is your avatar something you found on the internet or an actual bull you've seen sit like that? A neighbor has one that sits like that. My kids and I always get a big laugh when we see him doing that. He just sits there and watches traffic go by.

Jeanne,
I used to complain about mud.. but the alternative is much worse. Believe me..

In July 2012 you would get bogged where the cows are in the second pic.
The farm is about 135ac in a temperate part of Australia usually known for it reliable rainfall. Our pastures usually consist of clover and rye grass with cocksfoot, phylaris and fescue amount other things making up the mix.
I'm carrying 48 pairs and 10 replacements, though that will change the week after next when I sell 10 or 15 culls.
The herd is mainly straight Angus and I managed to get 10 Charolais cross heifers in calf to an bull, they have been pretty good.
The week after next I will wean and feed the calves for a month and reassess the situation then. I have access to reasonably cheap feed so it pays to put in a little effort to try and finish some of the calves for my local butcher.

Yes Ken he is the Nbar bull I purchased in September. I'm not sure he will grow much taller but I expect he will muscle up when conditions improve.

Good cows OME and really like your heifers. Char X are goodies. Bull is obviously in his 'working clothes' as one would expect. You still have dry feed, I am so envious. Even the rabbits have to carry a waterbag and their own lunch when they pass through this area. 45C today (not pleasant) -hot winds have frizzled the garden. Sold another bull (one less mouth to feed) today. The DTD is putting out hay as its now down to 32C. Hate summer...... I'll take some of Jeanne's mud (so long as it isn't real deep). We were in Denver this time last year and it was nice and cool....yes......wish we were back there now.

Very nice. Like Jeanne said, something is wrong here with our weather in Kentucky. It is suppose to get near 70 degrees fahrenheit on January 12. Cold one day, warmer than normal the next. And mud, mud , mud. I enjoyed the clear cold we had for about 5 days. Now back to March/April weather in January.

I enjoy the pictures, thanks.

Yes OME, the stint with the cows will put a few hairs on his chest. I would like to see another photo of him when he has a break and puts a bit of condition on. Nothing wrong with him as he is though.
Ken

The wonders of our times. here I set windchill about -20 and all white from a pretty good snowstorm yesterday. Going to be Colder than a old maids Bed tonight!!! Looking at your cattle and the dry dirt and the cattle all shed off. Have a hand comeing back from vacation, lives in So, Africa, what a shock this will be. Good thing she is tough. We are feeding everything all they want to eat and we are trying to competewith alot of the world that really does not have to feed much or very often. Guess it allways works out but still to a old man it is hard to beleive how far we have come in these lasst few years. Just a comment on our awesome technology.
