Its me again Margaret,

I still laugh whenever I hear that one. I love Tennessee Earnie Ford's "Shot-gun Boogie".

Katherine

Now that is one I had forgot about nothing finer than Tennessee Earnie Fords gospel either I think I still have most of his records. When I was young I had a bad drug problem if the church house door was open my Mom was dragging me through it.
You mean the days when being in position of a roach was a feloney? When your fiends joined the service and came back either in a box or on drugs and people spit on them for being patriotic?
Acid Rock was popular back then but I prefered Peter, Paul and Mary and the Carpenters type of music back then. At least I could understand the words.
Never will forget the first apperance of the Bettles on Ed Sulivan in 64 (I think). I don,t think I got a hair cut for the next 5 years or so. Old uncle saved my tale when he stuck a cowboy hat back on me.

Was the Beatles 64 I thought 62 doesn't matter. I remember the TV antenna pole had a 24 inch pipe wrench on it to turn the antenna to get the station Dad wanted to see not the kids. It also had a pair of channel lock pliers on it to change the channel. Saturaday's we sometimes got to go to the movies and watch Bug's and Yosemotee Sam. In intermission before Roy came on there would be whistle blowing contest after eating a cracker for prizes.

anyone remember, "One eyed one horned flying purple people eater"
 Yup
That song was big up here because of the Vikes. Anyhow, I will never forget when I was listening to the radio and the announcer was talking about this song. He got all the words of the title out, but messed up at the end combining "people" and "eater" into "peter". That in and of itself is not terribly funny, but he started this nervous/embarrassed laughing that got worse and worse as he tried to go on as though nothing had happened. Suddenly, in mid sentence, his tallk flipped over into a commercial. I felt awful for him, but that was years ago, and I still laugh to think about it.

Just a little further back. How many grew up watching the "Hit Parade" with the "Lucky Strike" commercials. I would go back a little further but that is when we got our first hand me down TV.
Caustic; Remember having to take the tubes down to the local 7/11 and testing them.

I'm not afraid to admit it - I'm 63 young!!! still ducking under elec fences, climbing gates, going deer hunting, halter breaking, fishing, etc.
Of course you are, and you will probably be doing in 20 years! I am sure those guys could probably kick some axe and take names too, but I am way up here so it is fun to poke sticks at them now and again. :lol2:

That and Ed Sullivan was about all we ever watched. I left home shortly after we got a TV. Wonder what happened to Snooky Lanson

How do I have to stick in the tube tester, you could also pick up a box of shotgun,22's or rifle if you shot what you were supposed to 30-30 or 30-06. The one that really chaped you is when you looked in the little box they were out of the tube you needed. Didn't really watch much TV in those days supposed to go to church Sunday Mornin and evening as well as wednesday. Little league didn't play or high school on days there was church and blue law was in effect on Sunday's.
The government has worked hard to presucute Christians in this country it's the divide and conquer tactic. Life was much simpler then. I didn't have PC correctness cramed down my throat and I didn't even know what gay was much less have to see the immoral garbage on TV. The constitution was written by Christians that refused to be perscuted by government the very thing our founding fathers fought and paid for in blood has came full circle. At least I had the opportunity to be raised by the greatest generation of Americans and grow up in a time we were still supposed to be proud to be an American.

I think that's the only song that Sheb Wooley ever made. I suppose if you're only going to do one you might as well make it a million seller

Sheb went on and wrote several songs and sang a few as Ben Colder.
Also acted in several cowboy movies, such as a regular in Rawhide, and also High Noon.
A great singer and actor.
