Just curious.....................I was at the Dixie National's in Jackson, MS, this past weekend and noticed many cattle that had colorful zip ties on the rope halters behind the poll. I've seen this before, but don't recall what's the purpose, if any.
Again, just curious!

In Louisville at the NAILE they use them to mark the cattle as they are checked in after health records etc are verified. Gotta have the tag before they are brought into the barn.

Same in Denver at the NWSS, you had to have the tie on halters to show they'd been checked in.

I have also seen them being used to easily take off the rope halter in the make-ready. They have the show halter on under the rope halter and then grab the zip tie to pull the halter off quick and easy.
