if we start outlawing things like this, then what is next

Just because we have the ability to do something doesn't mean it should be legal. We have the ability to take drugs, but should that be legal? Doesn't pornography have the potential to do as much harm to families as drugs do to an individual? We have the ability to physicaly abuse people, but does that mean it should be legal?

There are many things which are, unfortunately, perfectly legal and yet have the potential to cause great harm. Pornography is one of them. I do not believe that the founding fathers of our great country would have given pornography any rights in the constitution. And had the forseen the plague of pornography they may have changed their wording in the first amendment.

But, this is a cattle board, isn't it? Sometimes I wonder if there is too much political discussion on this board. I value the insights from the many old timers on the cattle-related forums.

So Monkeyworkz, you are most definately in favor of outlawing all guns / knives or anything else which can be used as a weapon? These have the potential to do great harm. We cant outlaw lack of common sense. Anything done to extremes can eventually become dangerous. Drugs are illegal, physically abusing someone is illegal...do the math.

Do you think the founding fathers ever pictured guns being used by criminals as rampant as they are today? In my opinion, the founding fathers had the militia / feeding one's family in mind when they added the right to bear arms amendment, never did they concieve we would go off the deep end as a society as we have today.

The only reason the Patriots were able to fight the British is because guns WERE rampant. Everybody had one.

Guns have a legitimate purpose. Show me one legitimate purpose to pornography. Guns and knives can be used for good, pornography can not. I am not in favor of outlawing guns.

Are you really trying to compare the need, and constitutional right, to bear arms to the filth of pornography?

I don't think you understand the constitution and the circumstances surrounding it's drafting if you think guns and pornography should be allowed the same protection.

Leave the (quote="name") on the front and the (/quote) on the back of the text you want to quote. Only thing, the brackets should be square.

What this conversation has with political cows, I don't know. I'm a strong believer that less government is better government. Be a homosexual, do all the drugs you like, watch porn if you want to but if you touch somebody's kids or sell drugs, I think society should have the right to eliminate you from the population. Too many people want to blame their actions on the environment in which they were raised, but everybody has free will. If you can't control your vices, society should have the right to eliminate you from the gene pool so that we don't get any more like you. Just my opinion.

I think the heading "Political Cows" was just a ficticious heading in order for someone to expess their own political beliefs. It could of been Political Anything, but keeping with the notion that this is a cattle forum, the Political Cows seemed like a politically correct title.

I believe that this the one forum where we can get off course and freely express our opinions. I hope everyone takes these posts lightheartedly and doesnt get in an uproar when someone disagrees with them. Now, if things begin to run off course in the more serious forums, which folks post in with hopes of getting important questions answered and serious issues resolved, then I believe we have a problem and the administrators will resolved the situation accordingly.
I am not really sure when it became O K for the personal attacks to begin. It does seem to have gotten out of hand here lately, with the name calling and such, but usually I just look at the poster and realize that if they rant, rave and cuss in here, then they probably do it in their personal life also, and its not my job to try and change anyone's habits, so usually I just overlook it!
