I have a angus cross just calve. Both are up and the calf has nursed already. But it's been a couple hours and the cow still has afterbirth hanging. Is this normal ??

They both seem to be doing well. I walked out and got a closer look its a bull calf. So happy it worked out well. It's our first calf. Happy happy happy !

What's the best way to get a weight on the new calf ? I'd like to keep records for AAA

That's good. Is this the one you were concerned about in your other thread?

Make sure momma has adequate feed to milk to her potential

Yes fitz it is. Dun we've been giving her extra in the morning and again in the evening. This morning the calf was up jumping and bucking. The mother is pretty calm around me. So working with her calf mat not be as bad as I thought.
