How much of the same private taking care of the community is still occurring today.

Quite a bit here. My community is really pretty good in this department but there are some that have not taken the hand up and have settled for a handout and these people are rarely helped. Recently we were asked by a druggie whose drug use resulted in some major health problems if we could give him some money to buy food. This guy had taken government loans to go to college only to drop most courses to receive a refund and he spent eight years partying and drugging with nothing to show for it but a pile of debt owed to the taxpayer who he will never re-pay. At first I was reluctant but decided maybe he had turned his life around so rather than giving him food my wife and I filled his house full of food and told him we would call him when our garden came in and he could help himself. Garden is in and invitation has been given but we haven't heard a peep out of him since. Maybe he quit eating.

On a brighter note, we have also helped another family who clearly fell on hard times far out of their control. These are great people and will only allow us to help them so much. They are thankful and occasionally the lady drops some really nice thank you desserts and government staples by the house. Thanks to our knowing who to talk to we got a mountain of medical debt lifted off their shoulders and they are now getting on their feet again - oh and they are making good use of the garden.

I don't mind helping people who cannot help themselves but I refuse to help those who can but don't.

My wifes family would have starved to death after her Dad got killed when she was 5 and the
oldest of four kids. The men of the community took care of making sure they were not going hungry.
Somebody was going to get a deer after dark and bring it to them dressed out. When we butchered hogs or made syrup there was always xtra made for the widows and kids. I have wore out a tow sack toting hams,bacon and syrup when I was a kid.

How much of the same private taking care of the community is still occurring today. Did you ever replace the tow sack you once used so often?

These things occurred in history. History isn't repeating itself like it used to.

I don't use a tow sack anymore I use a truck.
They wife and I give and do a lot for the needy still today.
There is a heII of difference in the needy and the sorry.
Nothing is expected in return as well.
History is not the problem the socialist agenda that has indoctrinated our society is the problem.

CB, read this and maybe you will understand why you are so mean.

The folks who are getting the free stuff, don't like the folks who are paying for the free stuff, because the folks who are paying for the free stuff can no longer afford to pay for both the free stuff and their own stuff.

The folks who are paying for the free stuff want the free stuff to stop, and the folks who are getting the free stuff want even more free stuff on top of the free stuff they are already getting!

Now... The people who are forcing the people who pay for the free stuff have told the people who are RECEIVING the free stuff, that the people who are PAYING for the free stuff, are being mean, prejudiced, and racist.

So... The people who are GETTING the free stuff have been convinced they need to hate the people who are paying for the free stuff by the people who are forcing some people to pay for their free stuff, and giving them the free stuff in the first place.

We have let the free stuff giving go on for so long that there are now more people getting free stuff than paying for the free stuff.

Now could I please have my free phone. Pretty sure its in the constitution under my rights and pursuit of happiness and all that stuff.

I see people all the time come in and buy food on the EBT cards then turn around and drop over $20.00 for cigarettes and lottery tickets.

We have Shop with the Sheriff and the Angel Tree. There is also an account for donations at a bank. You can make a donation to go to a certain person or just go into the account.
