I'm gonna get wired up I guess Aug 2.

Help Support CattleToday:

@greybeard I'm sure now your another 30 days out huh?
Probably. 'They' called just a moment ago to schedule the psych exam, which will be Aug 7 12:15pm . Why they couldn't do it while they had me on the phone is probably because now, they get to bill 2 different events instead of just one... Sometimes (most times) I think their thought process runs somewhat like this:

"Hey, this guy's old, has a heart condition and diabetes. We better hurry and wring every penny out of him and his insurance company while we can in case he up and dies on us.. If he doesn't then maybe later we can fix him ....if we have to"

Was reading that by not being mobile the muscles grow week and the purpose of physical therapy is to try and keep your back muscles strong. That all makes sense and for me right now seems to be helping.

Exactly right!! Walking (with a cane) is one of the things I can do pretty good. Twice I needed to go pick up a prescription at Walgreens here in town and decided to walk. It's about 3 miles round trip. Had to stop several times and rest, but it was not that bad. (this was back when hi temps were 101F or less) Standing in one place tho, is painful. Grocery shopping is painful. Sitting is painful & very much so.

I do swim a lot but only on my back or side. My spine will not support me doing breast stroke. Always feel a lot better after a swim but am beginning to look more like a Hispanic than Caucasian. I'm darker than a lot of Mexicans.

I hate pain meds and try not to take them but sometimes give in to it.

How are you since the hernia repair?
Mine took something from me. I'm not near as strong as I was before the hernia and especially since the surgery. It's like my muscles don't/can't do what they used to!

Ya know, I'm not really sure anything has changed. For the first week I could tell a difference. The pressure points were different and then I twisted wrong and had a pain shoot through the gonads again. Pretty much having the same symptoms again. Doc said it's all good that it will take a little more time.

Applying pressure at the hernia site does feel better than before so their is that but I do refrain from a hard turn at the right at the waist.

Have a urology appointment at the end of the month so will ask the urologist what he thinks.

Haha!
I remember to this day holding the darn thing IN with my hand.

I'm lost here. We talking about a hernia or something completely different?
Yep.
Mine would just POP out on my right side. Above my groin area. Weirdest thing ever. I could just pop it back in and occassionally I'd find myself just holding there, as it was very uncomfortable no matter what ya did. Holding it in eased the discomfort.
Laying down there was no issue until ya got up.

It took a couple months to get mine repaired as well.

I likened it to an employee we had at the time. A minor constant annoyance!!

They got off on a side bar bout 1982vett's hernia repair and are sharing hernia stories.

How did the psych exam go? Are you set for the wiring up now?

They can brag all they want about medical technology, but in my opinion the health industry has gone to hell. I once had a Dr who knew your whole history without opening your chart (or a computer). He would fix a broken arm, birth a child or stitch up a cut, all in his office. There wasn't a ten minute limit with someone else in the next room waiting. It is strictly a cash flow business. Get the basics then refer you to some specialist that might take two or three months to get an appt. Don't be surprised if the specialist thinks you need to be referred again. Those of us that are up in age spend half our time feeding these doctors. I don't think any of them today know what the Hippocratic Oath is all about. My GP who we need to refer us or admit us to a hospital works 4 days a week and most of the time he spends planning his fishing trip for the weekend in the Gulf. Thats $1500 worth of gas to put that boat in the water. I don't begrudge him his fishing, but I'd like a little medical attention for all those medicare bucks he's bringing in.

People won't accept a days wait to treat their dog, they want it done there and then.

Yes it is, I waited since November to get a c-scan for diverticulitis, finally got it done last week, but haven't heard from specialist yet?
I struggled with diverticulitis for many years. Doctors kept telling me quit eating nuts.
Finally after many years of pains and hospital visits I went to a specialist and he asked me if I ate corn. I said of course I eat corn I grew up in the cornfield !
I'm pretty sure he called me an idiot and said that was the root of my problem. So he tattooed a section to be removed that was about 20 years ago.
He said you can eat all the nuts you want but do not eat corn, sesame seeds, caraway seed, any kind of small seed.
I avoid corn and seeds and haven't had a problem in many years.

Well said! I agree completely!

I saw something several years ago about a Doc that only took cash and he only made house calls. He didn't have to pay a huge staff to take care of paperwork/insurance claims, and he didn't need a brick and mortar location, so his expenses were very low. He claimed that he was making similar take home as the guys with the offices and staff... without all the headaches... and he was giving better care.

As do I.
The psych exam went just about as I expected.
"Have you ever felt like harming yourself or others?" (Yes, I used to shoot at people from a helicopter about once a week."
"Have you had bouts of depression lately?"
"Are your parent divorced?"(Well, Sort of, they're buried in separate graves)
"Have you ever been convicted of a felony"
"Have you ever suffered from alcohol, prescribed or illegal drug addition" (No, but I used to raise cattle..does that count?)
"Do you have children?" (Yes, but they're all older than you are)
"Is there anyone in your household that can care for you while recovering from this upcoming procedure?"

That kind of stuff.

I guess thats what I was implying. The old Drs would never ask them questions. They had enough maturity and experience to just know. They cared enouigh to want to get you better whtever ailed you, and thery didn't need a phsycology degtree to just listen sometimes and offer their opinion. They were interested in the whole being and sometimes they even grabbed an hr or so on a Sunday afternoon to wet a line with a cane pole and ponder on the past week which allowed them to settle their mind

lawd only knows!!

Moving here to Central Texas away from near the Houston Metroplex is like crossing into some kind of time warp
When you get your feeling back, or not, whichever it is, or ain't, and you're able to sit for six hours, or three, more or less, blablabla; Iffin you're up for a road trip, I can show you 'time warp'.

Apologies for the run-on. Our wives can keep themselves busy, and we need a change of pace.
