Most "mineral tubs" are good at providing trace minerals, but are low on your big two, C
, takes a lot of lickin. They also don't have any salt added. So really they are only part of your supplement. You would still have to put out salt, and based on your forage, C
mineral. Number one reason to use mineral tubs is decreased consumption, which in turns saves you money.
I really see them being more helpful in weaning calves, or feedlot where most of their mineral needs come from their feed.
As for your tub there, it won't hurt to put out. It will provide C
, Trace minerals, and the added protein is nice. The ? is are they cost prohibited?
Finding a mineral your cows will eat, and find a protein supplement that works for you, might net more gains in the long run.
What brand of mineral were you using?
