How long would off road diesel last (shelf/useable life) if stored in a sealed 55 gallon steel drum? Will be stored in an open ended barn bay.

Depends on how much and what kind of treatment you put with it. Should be able to get two years if not three. I always have some that sets for a year with no treatment and have no trouble out of it.

Just going to store the one 55 gallon barrel. Barrel has been reconditioned. Will save trips to the co-op.

Wouldn't a plastic drum be better?
Seems like a steel drum would collect condensation on the inside of the top and it end up in the diesel when it built up enough to form big drops.

Plastic will sweat too but won't rust.

I will run it through a filter when pumping out. That should take care of any rust from the barrel (though there shouldn't be any)

Will also put klear diesel in just like I do on my truck to eliminate any potential water.

Thanks
