I took a job out of state to avoid things like that. They can always come back when things turn around.

The nuke industry may blow wide open. It has been a dying industry for 30 years. Zachary is San Antone is staffing up for construction. They may try that. The new generation plants are going to be totally different than the old. It is going to be a matter of learning everything all over again. Good craftsman or technicians could transfer and be an asset.

Boogie...seems I heard or read where there is talk of putting in two more units at Comanche Peak. Is that the talk around your county?? Sure would be a home run for the area.
Could very well be right, by slowing it down folks might be able to see it coming.Brute 23":2hvksagy said:IF you think this bailout is going to save jobs you are wrong. It is just slowing down the process.

I don't know vett. People are still living outside of the plain old economic sense we learned in school over 30 years ago.
Did our grandfathers buy new vehicles all the time?

I guess maybe I am lucky to have some one who lived through the depression and always reminds every one how bad things can really be.
There was a senator or some thing like that on the radio yesterday. He said we needed this bailout because, for example, some one called his office and said they were looking for a house and couldn't get approved. He said," ... and that is not right..." :x
That is what got us in this mess in the first place, not every one deserves a house and brand new car. They deserve what they earn. I guess that guy didn't listen to the other 9 people calling his office saying they will have him removed if he votes for the bailout.

All the influx of people is what makes me want to move out of the area. It is busting at the seams. Then there is the gas now too. If you go up 51 to Weatherford, be prepared to sit at the I-20 intersection for 25 minutes. If you go through Granbury, take the old downtown "business" route. It is about 10 to 15 minutes faster than the "bypass".
We are in a total mess.
It is not just vehicles either boogie. For example yesterday I took my 2 year old cell phone into the cell phone place to have the mic repaired. Kid looks up my account he sees that I am no longer under contract so he tells me I am could get a new phone for x amount of dollars if I sign a new 2 year contract. I said no just fix the phone I have. All these kids in the store kept telling me how dumb I was for not getting the new phone. No brainer one kid said. I guess even though I'm young I'm just not part of the throw away generation. Phone will be fixed by the end of the week.backhoeboogie":2it1fwah said:Did our grandfathers buy new vehicles all the time?

It always amazes me how the market can drop 10% and you start to hear stories about people losing half their money .I guess if your too heavy in the wrong thing . My only stock is the live kind and it aint been doing very well either .
