Freshly Castrated Bulls

Just last week I castrated 4 5-6 weight bulls using the scalpel/surgical method. I was wondering how long it will take for the scrotum to recede. It has been 7 days since castration and I noticed that on all 4 the bag is still hanging. Any thoughts?

I always found that with any wounds like castration wounds the swelling is always the worst from 3-5 days and from there things gradually go down. With fairly heavy calves like that I would think that the scrotum will take several weeks to a couple of months to fully recede. Did you cut off the bottom third of the scrotum as that gives good drainage of the blood and serum and minimises the swelling.

I did cut off the bottom third and sprayed the wound with screw worm spray.
