For the Aussies

Have any of you Aussie hereford guys herd of Waiau? Dad used some semen off a bull named Waiau Eldorado and we have some cows and bulls out of him. Just curious as to what kind of cattle they were.

Waiau is actually a New Zealand herd, and while Eldorado was never used here in Australia, he is sired by an Australian bull GVPC Kernel.

Kernel had great eyes, colour, soft coat and outlook and was renown for the females he produced. Many sires used by studs here in Australia were out of Kernel cows. I beleive Bill Bennett imported semen so he was also used in the States. He didn't have enough back end and thickness for us to ever use his blood much though.

My whole hereford herd is pretty well Kernel's. The cows I bought when I was 12 were all out of Kernel cows and BLL Brigader 41E.
