Here are last weeks prices from Joplin Missouri. If we assume approximately 1 for 1 on the CA vs US exchange rate the prices differences are very interesting. You seem to have a much larger spread on your prices within any weight range. And your steers (Males) are about .30c higher.

Feeder Steers: Medium and Large 1
400-500 lbs 135.00-148.00;
500-600 lbs 130.00-143.50;
60-700 lbs 128.00-135.50;
700-800 lbs 125.00-133.00;
800-900 lbs 118.00-128.00;
900-925 lbs 120.50-121.50.

Feeder Heifers: Medium and Large 1
400-500 lbs 123.00-135.75;
500-600 lbs 117.00-125.00;
600-700 lbs 118.00-125.50;
700-750 lbs 119.00-124.50;
825-850 lbs 113.50-118.00.

By the way. You can watch the Joplin Stockyard and a number of other auction houses on the web here:

ThanX for posting your local info as it is always very cool to compare prices across regions.

Profit depends a lot on feed cost and selling price... and there is always someone who does well even when the average is losing.
Futures are up to $125 and I think there is a way to make some money by feeding by products.

I saw 4 weights for October delivery bring $175/cwt on RFDTV/Superior Auctions. I smiled and hoped I can come close to that.
As I recall, it was 200 total head. -.10 on the heifers.

$140 for nice double vaccinated 450# steers here. What was so special about Superior?
