Fenceline weaning Updated 5-27

Help Support CattleToday:

Actually, 3 are 6 months and 1 is 5 1/2 months. They were born Nov 24-Dec 25. We did leave on their mommas about two weeks longer last year. (Ironically, the youngest seems to be adjusting the best. It is the two oldest that are having a fit).

Amen on the Alamac sign!! We always go by that. We weaned last week-end 4 bulls and 2 heifer calves. Bawled for 1 night and that was it. Moms didnt bawl either and their bags aren't real hard either. The sign needs to be in the knees and going down, dont let it go back up to the head before weaning. Needs to be on the knees and then the moon needs to be decreasing. Once in awhile we have had to wean when it wasnt in the sign and they would bawl for a week. The mom's bag would be dripping milk. The sign works! :cboy: You must have hit the sign the first time you weaned and then the second time it was most likely in the stomach area.
