First time trying clover, and it did come up good, but have noticed it all is now very light green or even yellow and the tips of the leaves almost white. Plenty of rain, but no deluges.
Frost damage? (got down to 26F last week early)

Don't know crimson clover but most of the clover in my pastures thrives in warm season - late spring and on. It does start looking pretty sick around April/May (equivalent to November in the North).
Some people delay sowing it till spring for that reason, but most go right ahead and mix it with their autumn-sown grass seed and that works well too, it just doesn't really fire till the following spring.

Lots of folks come on here and wonder why there grass or clover turned colour, came up patchy or what ever.

And in turn lots of folks come on here and provide that advice.

But in truth - it is an investigation. And that means eliminating the possibilities.

Far too few people add a soil test and a visit from their local rep into this mix.

It is cheap and it is exact. All else is hearsay.

I am betting it could be the temp - but the fact is most clovers are not adversely affected by temperature in my area - so why would it be different for you - unless it is the variety.

However - how do you know the minerals in your soils are not deficient?

We test after every hay cut and we fertilize after every hay cut on this place. It does make a difference

Just a thought - best to all

Do you test every cutting of hay??

In fact we do - it costs about 20 bucks and then we sort the hay into "quality" sections for winter feeding

A bit more work but it helps to cut down on mineral - which we custom blend for the feed we are putting out

Great !! Most don't. Mineral adjustment should be minor.
