water got into the air cleaner and mixed with the oil and now the cleaner is all mucked up.

at the base of the cleaner, above the "oil bowl" is a metal - Brillo pad looking - filter that i can figure out how to remove. I soaked the bottom / filter in gas to try to clean it up, but it didn't' work. To buy a new one cost 120 bucks!

Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
Alex

No help on cleaning. And that does sound steep. But think of the alternative. New engines aren't as cheap.

If the gas didn't loosen it you could try laquer thinner. it's much more potent than gas , It costs more tough I haven't got any lately it use to be about $8 / gal for the cheaper grade .
