Can I give away free beef?

Help Support CattleToday:

Howdy,
With your question, it sounds like your new to this.
Talk with your local butcher. They might have someone wanting to buy a 1/2 beef. Whether the butcher is USDA certified or not. The 1/2 purchase is a live on the hoof purchase. The other people tell the butcher how they want it packaged. You would also tell the butcher how you want your 1/2.

Frozen in your freezer? Then that is another story. Your wrapping probably says "Not for Sale". Unless you paid the butcher shop for USDA inspection. Then your beef gets a USDA inspected wrapper, and can be sold wherever you want.

I can't see how it is legal for a butcher shop to charge a customer for a USDA inspection when they the butcher shop had it done for free. Maybe it is legal but I just can't see how.
